Mechanical Seals That Forge Every Gap

Mechanical Seals are meant to join mechanisms and systems, so that there is no leakage of pressure or chance of contamination. The closest example of mechanical seal is the plumbing system.Sealants and gaskets are the perfect examples of seals. Sealants’ efficiency is measured on the adhesive power, whereas compression power of the gaskets is noted.

A mechanical seal is utilized in rotating equipment, like mixers, pumps, compressors and blowers. A typical end face mechanical seal makes use of the flexible and rigid elements; as a result they maintain a contact at a sealing interface, while sliding on each other.

A stationary mechanical seal is even called as packing.

The major functional parts of a mechanical seal are as follows;
• The primary sealing surfaces
• A means of actuation
• A means of drive
• The secondary sealing surfaces

There are varieties of mechanical seals and packing available across industries.
Let’s go through a few of them;

Induction or cap sealing, adhesive or sealants, coating, diaphragm seal, a special gas sealing washer used for medical applications is known as bodok seal, hose coupling, dry gas seal, gaskets or mechanical packing is of the following types; O-ring, Piston ring, O-ring boss seal and flange gasket.

These mechanical seals are essential for various machineries running in the industries. For every sector the type of seals depend on that particular industry’s requirement. An expert in these sectors would better understand and decide what needs to be done.

Mechanical equipment and machineries would stand still, if at some point you would retrieve the services of these mechanical seals. Maintaining the sealing and packing systems at their best, helps the machineries run smoothly and balance the productivity in the industry.
