Calculate the Air Compressor Power before making the deal

Determining the air compressor power weighs highly on the purchase of a compressor.Be it an air conditioning system or refrigeration system, you need to estimate the CFM and PSI output.A home cooling system needs more PSI, than the normal fans installed at your home.

Finding out the power of the compressor yourself, is easy with the CFM system, all you need for this is a calculator and a stop watch.

  • Start the process by first noting down the compressor’s specifications mentioned over it in gallons, and then divide it by 7.48, so that you get the output in cubic feet.
  • Fix the pressure gauge with the gas tank and release the compressor valve, to let the air flow out. Using the stop watch note the time duration while the compressor was on; along with noting down its PSI during the power on and off time.
  • Take out the difference in PSI, between the turn off to turn on stage of the compressor. Now you get the atmospheric pressure’s PSI, by dividing the above number by 14.7.The result, what you get at the end, explains how much pressure was generated by the compressor when it was functioning.
  • The pumping rate of compressor is, determined by multiplying the compressor’s volume obtained from the first step with the pressure generated per cycle. The cycle length and pumping rate would give you the CFR, when you multiply it with 60/18.

Air compressors are very essential for industrial and domestic uses. Buying the right product would save your money; otherwise you would definitely run post to pillar for the repair and replacement work.
