Explore the processes of Continuous Steel casting

Continuous Steel casting equipment is highly desirable to render the top notch performance to any industry that needs steel casting services. Features like casting speed, coolant flows and casting temperature are critically influential for the quality, productivity and safety, during the production process of steel.

Industrial casting machines often use spray coolants in an optimized flow.Automation of the continuous steel casting optimization process needs an optimization algorithm, a process simulator with quality function.

Continuous casting is a process in steel making technology that is utilized to manufacture semi-finished products of steel across a diverse range. In this complex method of metallurgy, molten steel is cooled and shaped into desired dimension semi-manufactures.

The major sets of equipment for metal casting are ladle, mold, tundish, cooling systems and the likes. The ladle transfers liquid steel from the steel making furnace to a tundish. During the casting process the tundish holds the steel.

The tundish is preheated in order to control the temperature of steel easily. It ensures continuous flow of molten steel into the mold.

Mold is the essence of all the other casting equipment, as it retrieves the heat from steel and shapes up into a solid shell for the slab that starts coming out of the mold.Mold oscillators prevent the steel from sticking to the copper-alloy walls of the mold, as the coolants initiate cooling of steel through the mold’s channels.

The cooling process is carried out till the slab keeps moving from the mold, through the caster, with the help of support rolls. During the secondary cooling system cold water is sprayed over the slab of steel and the final solidification process is over here.

Finally the solidified slab of steel is cut into desired lengths and the product is delivered to the respective buyers or stacked in the warehouse.
