Cotton a versatile raw material

Cotton is a dominant crop as well as commodity, so known as the food-shelter-clothing contributor for our existence. Many of us choose it is as it a natural source, while others like the bare necessities it contributes to our well-being and existence. It is used widely as a raw material to extract oil, or to make readymade garments which are comfortable and cost efficient.

Cotton is used widely to be churned into fabrics, as they are ideal to make fashionable, casual as well as formal clothing options. Depending on the quality of the cotton, fine, soft and comfy garments are made using cotton fabrics. Cotton is among the major crops which is cultivated on a large scale in the various regions of India. It is also a key component which contributes to the economy as well as is a major part of the exports of India.

Cotton is known as the food-shelter-clothing contributor to the labourers in India. As it is used a raw material widely to make fabrics for clothes, its seeds are used to extract oil which serves the food element and thick sheets of cotton are made in rural parts of India which are used to construct huts which offers shelter to people, which are constantly moving.

It also dominates the textile industry, as the crop is durable as well as comfortable to make fabrics as compared to other mix fabrics like polyester or synthetic fabrics. Cotton fabrics are easy to dye, knit and also to imprint special patterns or designs which make them an ideal raw material in the textile industry. They are also on the top of every shopper list as they are ideal wear for any climate and season and do not wear off easily as compared to other products.

Although cotton is white in colour, not all the fabrics made from cotton are white as, mostly they are dyed to suit the enormous demand and popularity of cotton fabrics. Initially cotton fabric after being spun from cotton is bleached and then dyed to a desired shade some of the common shades in which cotton fabrics are popular are misty blue, lemon yellow, lavender and tinty orange to make pants, dresses and various other readymade garments for both men and women.
