Wire Mesh and its different types

Mesh can be defined as a barrier made from different interconnected strands of metal or other non metallic fibres. Mesh looks like a structure of web, which is made to protect, hold or filter things. Wire mesh is made through the electronic fusion of welded fabricated wires in a longitudinal manner having accurate space between the wires. It can have space in the shape of rectangular or square as required. Steel wire mesh is mostly used as fencing; also it has many other applications in industries like agriculture, horticulture, transportation, mines, decoration, gardening, machineries, marine and in many other areas.

Wire mesh manufacturers are making different types of this product. Some of the commonly used ones are listed below:

  • Welded stainless steel wires: Having all the properties of stainless steel, these wire mesh are extremely useful in hardcore constructional areas and other areas where strength is required and exposure to environment is high like agriculture, mining and transportation.
  • Hot Dipped Galvanized Welded Mesh: These are made from simple steel with zinc coating to make final product more preventive. It is applicable for grating purpose, cage structuring, grilling and machine protective fencing.
  • PVC Coated Welded Mesh: This mesh type is covered with plastic coating processed by automatic machines which makes it durable and beautiful for use in gardens, buildings and parks. It comes in different colors like black, white and green which increase its value.
  • Welded steel bar grating: This type provides easy installation, high strength with feasible cost and is widely used in chemical plantation, metallurgy, grating roads, building safety walls, platform grating and making drainage coverings.
  • Electro Galvanized welded wire mesh with square opening: This mesh provides greatest strength with a high corrosion resistance property and is mostly used in infrastructural purposes and available in panels and rolls for usage.

  1. Wire cloth, also known as wire mesh, is an incredibly versatile product consisting of a
grid of individual wires that have been woven into a right-angled pattern (over and
under each other at 90 degree angles) through weaving. Woven wire cloth consists of wires that are formed into a weave pattern, with a variety of different
crimping patterns available for the interlocking segments. Wire cloth products can be manufactured from almost any metal. In many cases, a specific metal is
chosen as the preferred medium due to higher conductivity, tensile strength, or corrosion-resistance.
