Other than the pricing value, there is not really too much of a difference between the two precious and semi-precious stones and that too can be equal sometimes so there is fine line of dissimilarity among the two. The elements however which determine their worth remain the same in both cases namely
- Colour: This is the identity of the stone; it grades the persona of the stone, making it stand out from others.
- Cut: It determines the shape so cut a pivotal role in contributing to the value of the stone.
- Clarity: This parameter measures how pure the stone is scaling the mineral or organic reliability.
- Carat: It defines the size as well as the weight of the stone, which is mentioned in tags on them depicted with the name of the stone.
To maintain the luster and charm of stones both precious and semi-precious following steps should be taken
- Do not wear stone studded rings, necklaces when doing vigorous activities.
- Always protect them from light as their colour may fade.
- Stones are very delicate so take care when wearing them in hot temperatures as they make chip.
- Store stones in an air tight box on cotton, or within separate compartments.
- Always wear stone studded jewellery when you are done with applying makeup or applying perfume as they can corrode the stones.
So when you choose precious or semi-precious stones always check for the all the above mentioned qualities to ensure a worthy bargain and also take care appropriately so the stones last longer.
