Ferro Alloys are those alloys that are made with the mixture
of iron with other metals where other metals or minerals are in higher
proportion than iron. These are generally used for making steel and other alloys.
These Ferro Alloys have distinct properties and thus serve important function
during production of steel and cast iron.
Ferro Alloys are generally made around the globe but some of
the leading countries in Ferro Alloy manufacturing industry are China, Ukraine,
Russia and South Africa which account for around 77% of total production.
Different kinds of Ferro Alloys are Ferrochromium, Ferromolybdenum,
Ferrovanadium, Ferro boron, Chrome Alloys, Ferrotitanium, Ferronickel,
Ferrotungsten and Ferrosilicon.
Ferro Alloys are mostly made by two methods. One is
Carbothermic method in which oxides are reduced with carbon in presence of iron
or by adding elements into molten iron.
Many foundations and cooperative societies are being made to
promote and protect the interest of Ferro Alloys and their producers. In India,
the Indian Ferro Alloys Producer’s Association (IFAPA) regulates Ferro Alloys
and brings harmony and cooperation among different producers and maintains
uniformity in the rules and regulations of the industry. Ferro Alloy Suppliers in India supply the best quality alloys as
the global market is open now and in the era of competition where domestic and
international companies are free to trade, providing Ferro Alloys at effective
rates is a challenging task. Thus, to protect the negative competition, these
regulations are necessary to execute.
Ferro Alloy Industry in India has a present capacity of
around 5.15 Million tones and is increasing every year. This industry covers
mostly all the alloys and is vital for many other industrial production
purposes, largely for steel industry and other processes. Thus its
manufacturing has to be encouraged to cater to the needs in domestic and
international market.
