Take a stroll of the Paper manufacturing industry

The paper manufacturing industry is concerned with pulp paperboard making and paper for printing purpose.  Both virgin and recycled-fibre pulping and paper manufacturing technology is used for the process.

First we would have a look on the raw materials utilised by the pulp and paper companies, to manufacture paper and paperboard;

  • Fiber: Wood and Bamboo are the ideal options for paper making pulp creation. The organic glue ligitin is a complex one that binds cellulose fibers together. Non-wood fibers of kenaf, flax, wheat straw and sugar cane fiber are also used in pulp making.
  • Energy: Pulp and paperboard making equipment runs on steam and electricity depending on the energy resources that are easily available.
  • Chemicals: Sulphite pulping with Kraft is used as chemicals as well as caustic soda and chlorine with oxygen-based chemical bleaches are essential for the pulp and paper making industry.
  • Water: Water is one among most exclusive raw materials for paper manufacturing by the pulp and paper companies.

Now step into the world of paper making techniques;

  • The cellulose fibers of wood, waste paper recovered along with plants in making paper.
  • Foremost the raw material is collected for making the pulp; this pulp is used for fiber production.
  • Then the process of bleaching is done, if white paper is required, as the pulp is bit dull for white paper.
  • Then the real process of paper making is started.
  • Application of bleach brightens the pulp, then glue and chemicals are mixed with the pulp to make it slurry.
  • Using the products of manufacturers of paper making machinery, the pulp is pressed, dried and then rolled into huge rolls.
  • The end product is then cut into desired rolls of paper and sent to the market for selling.
These are the very common procedures followed to make paper and paperboards from the pulp.
