Drying is a process of
producing dried particles or powder from liquid with the help of hot gas. The
raw material which is used in drying process is called liquid feedstock which includes emulsions, solutions and pumpable
suspensions. These final particles are generally used in chemical and ceramic
products (Paint Pigments, Catalyst support); food & dairy (milk powder,
colouring, eggs, flavours, spices, vitamins and starch) and pharmaceutical
products (Additives, Antibiotics and medical ingredients). Drying process
differs according to the raw materials used in it. Some materials take much
time to dry than others and thus different processes are being used for it.
Spray Dyers, in the process uses either atomizer or nozzles to make particles
which are collected in a cyclone or drum. Calculates heat and moisture is
required to make particles of desired requirement. It is made through passing
the liquid through the nozzles into a hot vaporised area where liquid is
converted into small powdered form or in particles.
Dryers manufacturer in
India produce different kinds of dryers as required by their customers. Some of
the popular dryers used in the industry are:
·
Spray
Dryers: These are used to make small particles from a
liquid solution. It can be water or any other solution. These dryers are
largely used in food industry.
·
Rotary
Dryers: These are used for breaking wet powder and cakes
which can be easily dispersible and breakable like Silica Sand.
·
Continuous
Fluid Bed Dryers: In this, air is passed through
perforated plate at an adequate speed so that the load of the particles can be
held. In the process, bubbles are being produced and collapse inside the
chamber, which then become particles. These dryers are mostly used in Sugar,
fertilizers, Aluminium or Metal Oxidization and Mineral-Sand Industries.
·
Paddle
Dryers: These dryers use continuous revolving heated blades
to make the particles. Mainly used in Magnesium Carbonate, Pastry Solids, Agro
Waste and Sludge Industry.
·
Conveyer
Dryers: In this. Wet or moist feed is placed on a
perforated plate and then hot air is passed through it. This whole mechanism is
insulated and fixed. Wood chips, Bagasse and Chemical Industry use these dryers.
