Different types of Dehydrated Onions and their uses

Dehydrated white onions are one of the many products that are being used as dried ingredients in many food recipes now. These onions can be used in powder, kibbled, flake, granules, chopped, minced and in many other forms and the best thing is that each gives its own flavor and aroma to the recipe. They are made with a standard process where fresh mature white onions are being washed, trimmed, cut and finally dehydrated by passing hot air in a closed continuous system. 

Different kinds of dehydrated onion and their applications are: 

  • Dehydrated white onion kibbled: It is used when taste and flavor is required with the texture and appearance also like salads and servings.
  • White onion powder: It can be used in any food preparations, where only taste is required. Used in seasoning, meat products, sauces and other products.
  • Dehydrated White onion minced: It is used in many packed foods like soups, salad dressings, meat products, canned/frozen or dry foods, sauces and in many other food items where flavor and taste is required. And it is also very useful for selling in retail packing.
  • White onion chopped: It is used in stewed tomatoes, canned peas, stuffing mixes, casserole mixes, dry soups, green vegetables and in other meat preparations.
  • White onion granules: It is mostly used retail packs suitable for metering devices and also used in seasoning, crackers, cheese, gravies and in meat preparations as well. 
Use of Dehydrated white onion kibbled makes your dish even tastier. In India, Talaja town of Bhavnagar district of Gujrat is one of the best onion growing belt in terms of quantity and quality. The peeled fresh onion of Talaja is then processed at a particular temperature to get a great dehydrated onion in terms of texture, color, aroma with all retained flavors along with enhanced shelf life.
