Cotton yarn manufacturing is a major industry as cotton has been and is still the most important fibre. The fibre is converted into yarn, fabric and then textiles which are then fabricated majorly into clothes and even some artefacts.

A yarn is nothing but a continuous strand of fibres, filaments or materials that may be used for knitting, weaving or to form a textile fabric. Different sizes, textures and characteristics of yarns can be produced. Staple or filament, single or plied or cords, simple or complex are the three types of yarn.

The manufacturing process of cotton yarn is done in many steps such as opening, cleaning, blending, carding, combing, drawing and spinning. The first step of cotton yarn production is opening, cleaning, dust removal. Blending involves mixing and scotching which involves removal of seeds and other impurities from the cotton and is then prepared for carding. In this step, the cotton fibers and separated and pulled into parallel form and then assembled into strands. The next step, that is, combing refers to a process in which the shorter fibres, impurities and neps are eliminated in order to make a stronger yarn, more uniform, smoother, purer and greater shine. The fibres are then straightened by combining several strands to make a more consistent size into thick ropes. These are then separated into rovings which are used for spinning. Spinning is the final step in the production of yarn. The fibre strands are twisted to impact strength. Break or open end spinning technique is used nowadays.

The buttons should be well secured to the shirt and need to be placed equidistantly.

The collar of a shirt is of prime focus, as you look straight at someone’s collar the first thing you notice. Make sure it is not bulky and lays flat to allow the shirt for proper ironing.

The buttonholes need to be stitched properly at the edges and there is no thread hanging from the places.

Take care to notice, if there is any bulginess in the front side of the shirt, where the button and buttonholes are meeting each other.The sleeves should not have any puckering at the point it meets with the body of the shirt.
